I don't think it's a grind. I got enough sunspear points to progress just from doing the quests. However I did stop playing it after 2 days. :\

Maybe the story wasn't very interesting, maybe I got bored of always being in the desert and always fighting the same enemies, or maybe I just got bored of not playing with real people.

But hey, 2 days beats Factions, I stopped playing that after about 2 hours. No wonder it took me so long to complete, that really did feel like a grind. It wasn't until I got out of the damn Cantha streets maze that I finally started to enjoy it.

true

and to get to general is rly fast, I think I did it in 2-3 hours of pure enjoyment with those quests.

I rly love the quests btw, they are totally different then in factions imo more variety, offcourse a quest stays a quest.

The only grind is the general one, and it's really a "grind", since if you follow the quests there, you get the required points easily, even with non-elonian characters.

ANet did a good job with the quests in this game, they are now more diverse and intresting, sometimes even funny.

I do not know yet if I will have the will to get all my various characters to Sunspear general or just hang them by the wayside.
It's not too bad of course, but, redoing and redoing the same stuff get redundant. And.. it starts to feel like grind. Unfortunately, in NF so far the grind has been quite inconspicuous in terms of boredom, had it been a fullblown grindfest like there are games out there, I might have decided not to continue.

I admit, I'm a whiner, a grumpy, and am lazy and of the never get anything done type, I just wanna have everything easy. I mean, look at the people a hundred years back, damn I have it easy already.
So easy, that actually, wouldn't it be a great idea to revert back to those less refined conditions. Then people, in the mind's of other people, might not complain about other complaining about the harshness of the land.
Except there'd be some to say: but they had it even harder in the Medieval times. Guess that's what progress does to you, you know.

You want betterment, but don't want to embrace the thought of it.
After all, everything's just swell now, innit.

Admittedly I have experienced this the most with my non-nightfall characters that I have brought over as I work to get them to Sunspear General rank.

My question is: Do you think that there is too much emphasis on quest/sunspear point farming as opposed to missions in this game?

For all those who have finished the game, I must also ask if the game ever picks up or if the "gain enough sunspear rank to continue" is a constant blockade from progression.
I never "farmed" Sunspear or Lightbringer points, and finished up last night. And I didn't do all of the side quests, either. I just played thorugh normally, did quests as they appealed to me, and took the "priest" bonuses to gain extra points in the course of normal gameplay.

You can farm for points if you want to, but it isn't required.
